THE QUOTEBUOY APPROACH

Evidence before a verdict.

Reports use automated analysis of your estimate and published sources. Human help is available if you have questions. QuoteBuoy separates what your estimate says from what independent evidence can support. We use confirmed quote values for arithmetic and bring together reviewed shop advertisements, owner-reported prices and official manufacturer notices.

A reference has to fit.

Exact benchmarks require matching engine, work, inclusions, geography and date. Broader public examples are useful too: we show the location, date and original scope instead of treating them as a local market average. Repeated posts about one transaction do not become extra evidence.

Small samples stay small.

One or two shops provide named examples. Three or four provide low-confidence observed context. Five or more may support a medium-confidence comparison. No observation proves the work is necessary or that a shop is overcharging.

Unknown means unknown.

We do not infer labor rate from a bill that includes parts and tax. We do not invent labor time, fitment, maintenance requirements or warranty eligibility. An unchecked recall source is not a confirmed absence of recalls.

Built around your next decision

We accept estimates nationwide. Local rate checks use your repair ZIP to find nearby marine businesses and inspect their published pricing. We start within 25 miles and expand to 50 only when no nearby businesses are returned. Missing published prices do not trigger a statewide comparison. Initial comparisons cover selected routine work on Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki and Honda gasoline four-stroke outboards. Reports combine quote arithmetic, charge explanations, public price context and manufacturer recall follow-up. Your shop remains responsible for diagnosis and exact service requirements.
